Rikard’s Mill is a true unexpected treasure, perfectly tucked away in the piney woods, along the banks of the scenic Flat Creek.  The creek flows through Monroe County and into the Alabama River.  Established back in 1845, the mill has served residents of North Monroe County ever since.

The park is the perfect place for a hike and a picnic or barbeque to top off the afternoon.  Visitors to the mill can watch as corn is ground into cornmeal and grits. The Monroe County Heritage Museum stages many activities in the park and is dedicated to the preservation of past folk traditions, such as gristmilling, blacksmithing, cane syrup making, and more.
