Located in one of the earliest settled areas of historic Monroe County, Beatrice is one of Southwest Alabama's most rural, charming communities. We know your first visit won't be your last.
Be at Play
Outdoor recreation is one of the top reasons to visit North Monroe County. Whitetail deer, Eastern Wild Turkey, duck, and dove thrive here in significant populations. The Lake at Buena Vista, the State Lake in Beatrice, the Alabama River and many other private lakes and ponds provide boundless opportunities for freshwater anglers. Historic sites are numerous and there are events throughout the year. Rikard's Mill's Pioneer Days and Cane Syrup Makin' Day draw large crowds each year.
Be at Ease
If the Beatrice area has one thing that sets it apart from similar southern small towns it is the maintenance of and general accessibility to the large numbers of historic properties. The Beatrice Alabama Foundation maintains several properties as accommodations for overnight or longer term use for tourists in the area. Many of the visitors to the To Kill a Mockingbird productions in Monroeville opt to enhance the experience by staying in one of Beatrice's historic homes. Pricing and home details can be found on the Accommodations page.
Be at Home
Beatrice is more than just a good place to visit. It is a great place to call home. The local economy is driven primarily by the timber industry, which directly or indirectly employs most of the working population. Monroe Sausage is also made in Beatrice and has its headquarters in town.
“The Woodhouse in Cherbruke was the perfect vacation home. The service is unparalleled. Thank you for making our experience spectacular!”
